2021 New-to-Me Authors

2021 might not have been a great year for most things for obvious reasons, but looking on the bright side of things my reading was kicked up a notch. As a way to connect to more readers I started posting book recommendation reels on Instagram which meant I needed to expand my reading palette. I'm happy to report that I was able to not only expand into new romance subgenres, but also I found new-to-me authors.

If you're curious this book reel has a number of new-to-me authors- category Mafia Romance 👅

So who are these new-to-me authors? Let's break it down by subgenre and of course I plan to share books I think you should read. Here we go!!!

Contemporary

It should be no surprise that there are so many options in the contemporary section. Like we all should know by now, contemporary romance is my bread and butter, my comfort category and if you ask for a recommendation I would more than likely share something that's contemporary. Why do I love this category so much? It's the variety for me! You want a little suspense there's mafia romance right there. Or, what if you're in the mood for a little something steamy we got you covered from all the way to erotica. And then, if you need something light and fluffy there's romantic comedy right there. Like I said variety aka options!!!

Fantasy/Paranormal/Monster

First, I'm clearly a liar because I used to say I don't read fantasy or paranormal, clearly that is NOT true. This year I would say this category was a standout and the lesson here is find great storytelling. I would like to shout out Dria Andersen and Aveda Vice for helping me see the light. 😆

Sci-Fiction

Again, I can't say I don't read sci-fi because I ate these series up, well for the most part. The Xervi Mates series I skipped around (read books 1, 2, and 5) and I devoured The Murderbot Diaries. Also, I'm ready to debate anyone who tries to say that I can't call this series romantic suspense, because in my household the Murderbot series is very much romantic suspense.

I know in some cases I totally missed the boat on these authors, but it's better late than never. Right!

What are some new to you authors? I'm always looking to add to my TBR (I'm serious, but only if it's romance 😉).

Happy Reading!

    1. Yes, except for the last book. They are so good. I love the cast and the storytelling. I'm going to do a reread in May so I will remind you to pick one up :)
